Throughout his career, Pete Rose was a perfectionist when it came to his bats. Like most players in the 1960’s, Pete started swinging a Louisville Slugger, but began experimenting with almost every brand of bat approved for Major League use. This Mizuno bat dates from 1981 when he was with the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Mizuno 3631 model bat is un-cracked and shows excellent use. This bat has been determined to be a batting practice bat due to the tape that was across the barrel that has since been removed, a common BP trait. The handle has been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and there are still marks and abrasions across the barrel. This bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14556) and a LOA from former Major League pitcher Lee Smith for the use, who states in his LOA that he was gifted this bat by Rose and has been in his private collection.
