Coming out of DePaul University, Terry Cummings was a consensus first team All-American, and was the second overall pick in the 1982 Draft becoming a member of the San Diego Clippers. That first season Cummings averaged just less than 24 points and 11 rebounds per game, and was a unanimous choice for various NBA Rookie of the Year awards, where he was presented with this trophy issued by the NBA Players Association.
The 15 x 8.5 inch trophy features a spiritual topper, surrounded by a floating basketball with “NBA PLAYERS” on the front, all atop a large wooden base. The base plaque reads, “The Camel Awards / ROOKIE OF THE YEAR / 1982 – 1983 / Terry Cummings / National Basketball Players Association”, and is without any tarnish or scratches, although the check ring has areas of tarnishing and chipping, along with the wooden base experiences some areas of chipping. After two seasons in San Diego (now the Los Angeles Clippers), Cummings was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks where he had his best seasons as a pro. Certainly a one-of-a-kind item, this NBA Players Association Rookie of the Year trophy is a must for the serious basketball collector. This item comes with full LOA from Terry Cummings.
