The 1983 Major League All-Star game featured a dominating performance by the junior circuit as California Angels outfielder Fred Lynn delivered the only grand slam in all-star history leading the American League to a 13-3 victory. It was the first victory for the American League since 1971 and only its second win since 1963. Hall of Famer Rod Carew also made his 17th appearance in the game in collected two hits and a RBI.
