Though baseball was played at a few previous Olympics, 1984 marked the first time the game was given an extensive exhibition. Eight nations fielded a team and Team USA featured three college kids who were soon to be household names - Mark McGwire, Will Clark and Barry Larkin. This is the jersey Barry Larkin, still a student at University of Michigan, wore during the exhibition games. The Rawlings jersey has "USA" across the chest in red, white and blue tackle twill. Larkin's number "22" is sewn below in blue tackle twill. The shoulders and sides of the jersey are trimmed with red and blue ribbing and the left sleeve have "BASEBALL USA" and Rawlings patches. Rawlings size "42" label is sewn in the lower left tail. The back has "LARKIN" in blue tackle twill on a white nameplate and number "22" below in blue tackle twill. The jersey shows great game use with some staining and turf mark visible. The lettering has frayed in some places and there are some loose threads visible. Larkin has signed the front left chest in black marker . The matching pants have Rawlings size 32 label inside the waistband and another Rawlings label on the left front waist and again on the rear above the right pocket. Red and blue ribbing runs down each leg. The pants show great game use with turf and pine tar stains visible and a few snags in the fabric. The red white and blue warmup jacket has a Levi's patch on the right chest and special 1984 Olympic Games label inside the collar. Added size "L" tag is affixed. The front and two hand pockets are closed with working white zippers and the hood tighten with a white drawstring (one side has retracted into the hood). The shoulder is ringed with Blue and white striping and the back has "USA" in red, white and blue tackle twill. The bottom hem tightens with a white toggle string. The jacket shows good use with some wear to the lettering from laundering. A rarely seen uniform set from the the 84 Games. Barry Larkin LOA. All Barry Larkin LOAs contain a facsimile signature from Larkin and are accompanied by a Goldin Auctions LOA confirming the product came directly from Barry Larkin.
