Former left fielder Vince Coleman was the spark the St. Louis Cardinals needed for the 1985 season. The speedy outfielder led the National League with 110 stolen bases en route to the NL Rookie of the Year Award and the NL Pennant.

Offered in this impressive lot is the full uniform worn by Coleman during the 1985 season and the cleats he wore in his second and third years in the league. This size 40 Rawlings pullover St. Louis Cardinals home jersey shows moderate use and has the “Cardinals” bird and bat logo across the front, in a smooth chenille, with his number “29” sewn below in red and navy blue tackle twill. The sleeves have a ribbed red, white and blue pattern that caps the ends and the v-neck collar is a blue, white and red ribbed material. The back of the jersey has “COLEMAN” and his number “29” sewn on in red and navy blue tackle twill. The jersey shows signs of slight color bleeding and Coleman signed his name in black marker on the front to the left of his number and inscribed “Rookie of THE YEAR 1985”.

The matching Rawlings size 30 waist and 24 inseam pants feature a blue, white and red expandable waistband with three buttons and a zipper. Each side of the pants have a blue, white and red stripe and the red Rawlings size 30 tag, along with the team tag “COLEMAN 30 24 85 1” with a “SET 1” flap are sewn on the inside back waist. The pants have two back pockets with single buttons and show heavy game use with dirt stains on the back waist and team repairs on the right rear end. Coleman signed these pants on the upper right waist in black marker and inscribed “#29”.

Also included with this lot is a pair of game used Cardinals socks that have been signed in black marker by Coleman. These red socks have the traditional Cardinals’ white/navy blue/white/red/white/navy blue/white pattern on the leg portion. The last item offered are these all red Mizuno metal cleats that are a size 8 and have red laces and have been dated to the 1986-87 seasons. They display excellent game and are made of red leather that has been trimmed with white patent leather. The bottom of the cleats are of high-impact plastic with stainless steel spikes. Coleman’s number “29” is handwritten in black marker on each of the heels and he signed each cleat tongue in black marker. The cleats come with a full LOA from JT Sports. The jersey, pants and socks come with a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema and Coleman’s signatures have been pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
