While Larry Bird and Magic Johnson entering the NBA in 1979 are credited with reviving a then fledgling NBA, it was Michael Jordan’s entry into professional basketball in 1984 with forging the game ahead to the sport it is today. It didn’t Jordan long to have his autograph in high demand as he made his first and only public signing appearance on June 15, 1985 at the Randhurst Shopping Center in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

Offered here is one of the photographs Jordan signed during his inaugural foray into the autograph industry. This 8 x 10-inch color photograph shows Jordan in three images – one in a suit with a red tie, one in a white Bulls’ jersey holding a basketball and the bottom image showing him in his red Team USA uniform during the 1984 Olympics. Jordan signed his name in bold black marker between the top two images and made the rare inscription “#23”. Included with this lot is a newspaper article detailing Jordan’s visit to the Randhurst Shopping Center. This photograph has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (84167036) and the signature has been graded a NM-MT 8. There is also a LOA from JSA (Z66869).
