Offered here is a 10K yellow gold 1985 New England Patriots AFC championship prototype ring, manufactured by Balfour, which features approximately 2.5 total carats in diamonds. One larger round diamond centers the face, with four smaller diamonds surrounding it, all set on a red colored stone. Additional diamonds appear around the bezel setting, as well as on the outer perimeter, where the lettering of “PATRIOTS AFC CHAMPIONS” is also displayed in relief work. The Patriots defeated the Miami Dolphins, 31-14, to win the AFC title before falling to the dominate Chicago Bears – by a final score of 46-10 – in Super Bowl XX. Craig James carried the load offensively for New England during the season, rushing for 1,227 yards with an average of 4.7 yards per attempt. On the defensive side of the ball, Andre Tippett recorded a team-high 16.5 sacks. Both sides of the ring are blank. This ring weighs approximately 32.4 grams and is an approximate size 11. This ring comes with the consignor's purchase LOA and a Balfour ring bag.
