Legendary New York Mets outfielder and first baseman Rusty Staub wore this white Mets home jersey during the 1985 MLB season. Staub ended his 23-season career in 1985, recording 45 at-bats in 54 games for the soon-to-be World Series champions. Staub batted a respectable .267, with a home run, eight RBI, and a healthy .400 OBP. At the time of his retirement, Staub and Ty Cobb were the only two players to record home runs in their teens, twenties, thirties, and forties, although they have since been joined in that pantheon by Alex Rodriguez and Gary Sheffield. Staub collected 2,716 hits during his career with the Astros, Expos, Mets, Tigers, and Rangers, and is the only player in Major League history to notch 500 hits with four different franchises. A fan favorite during every phase of his career, Staub sadly passed away in March of 2018.
This home pullover jersey is white with blue pinstripes, and an orange-blue-orange racing stripe accenting the sleeves and sides of the jersey. “Mets” and Staub’s number “10” have been sewn on the chest in blue and orange tackle twill. A second “10” is sewn on the back in blue and orange tackle twill. “STAUB” is sewn across the back shoulders in blue and orange tackle twill over a white nameplate. A Rawlings size “48” tag with an attached “SET 1 1985” flag is sewn on the back inside collar. A “10-48-1” and “2 Inch Extra Length” tags are also sewn on the back inside collar. Staub has signed the chest of this jersey in black marker. This jersey shows light wear and comes with a LOA from Rusty Staub. Additionally, this jersey comes with a LOA from MEARS, who have graded the jersey a perfect A10.
