Hall of Fame pitcher Steve Carlton wore this home white with maroon pinstriped Philadelphia Phillies zipper-front jersey during the 1985 season. This size 46 Wilson jersey has the 1970’s/80’s Phillies-style “P” sewn on the left chest in maroon tackle twill, with Carlton’s number “32” sewn on in maroon tackle twill on the right chest. The Wilson size 46 tag, along with a white tag with “85 1” are sewn on the front left tail and a white tag that reads “Carlton” is sewn on the inner lining placket on the inside back collar. The back of this jersey has “CARLTON” sewn on in maroon tackle twill on a white nameplate and below is Carlton’s number “32” sewn on in maroon tackle twill. The sleeves and sides have a vertical maroon stripe and the left sleeve has an era-correct Phillies logo patch. This jersey displays moderate wear with evidence of laundering. There is puckering of the twill letters and numbers, along with loose threads and staining throughout. All of the lettering and numbering are original to the jersey. “Lefty” has signed his name in blue marker on the front below his number and inscribed “329 WINS 4136 K’s Cy Young 1972, 1977, 1980, 1982”. A great gamer from the tail-end of Carlton’s Hall of Fame career.
