Slugger Gary Sheffield was one of the most well travelled players of the modern era. Sheff spread his 509 career home runs between no less than eight Major League teams, and it was only natural that when the Florida Marlins were founded in 1993, Gary Sheffield would wear their hat. This Cooper C271 bat was used by Sheffield to hit the very first of the 10 home runs he would record as a Marlin in 1993. The bat shows tremendous use with many ball marks and white leather ball scuffs on its barrel. There is a moderate coat of pine tar on the upper handle and the lower handle has been taped in a spiral of adhesive tape to enhance the grip. The 500 Home Run Club member has signed the barrel in silver pen adding: “Bat used for first Home Run as a Marlin.” The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13266) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10, along with a COA from JSA (V16328) for the signature.
