Through the feet of Red Sox first baseman Bill Buckner, the 1986 NY Mets snatched World Series victory from the jaws of defeat. In one of the most bizarre shifts of momentum, Mookie Wilson’s bounding ground ball hit off reliever Bob Stanley completed a three-run tenth-inning comeback that propelled the Mets to an easy 7th game victory two nights later. The barrel of this pristine, 34-inch, Model 180 Louisville Slugger has been engraved with “WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS/1986 NEW YORK METS/ LIMITED EDITION 3 OF 86” Mets boldly signed in vivid blue Sharpie under the barrel header. Signatures include the late Gary Carter, Keith Hernandez, Dwight Gooden, Ray Knight, Mookie Wilson, Keith Hernandez, Lenny Dykstra, Howard Johnson, Wally Backman, Kevin Elster, Rafael Santana, Danny Heep, Bruce Berenyi, Lee Mazilli, Kevin Mitchell, George Foster, Rick Aguilera, Terry Leach, Tim Teufel, Randy Niemann, Ed Hearn, Bud Harrelson, Bill Robinson, and Barry Lyons. A COA from PSA/DNA (#T06691) accompanies this item.
