Thanks to the eruption of young stars Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry, coupled with the savvy play of veterans Gary Carter, Keith Hernandez, and Bob Ojeda, the New York Mets won 108 games in the 1986 regular season. They won the National League East Division by an astonishing 21.5 games over the Philadelphia Phillies, advancing to the National League Championship Series against the Houston Astros. The Mets won in six, setting up a showdown with the Boston Red Sox in the Fall Classic. Thanks to Bill Buckner’s historic miscue, the Mets won the World Series in seven games, bringing the franchise its second ever World Series title.

This Charles S. Feeney Official National League baseball has been signed by 29 members of the 1986 New York Mets, including Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter. Manager Davey Johnson signed the sweet spot. Other signatures include Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Keith Hernandez, Ray Knight, Mel Stottlemyre, Rick Aguilera, Rick Anderson, Wally Backman, Kevin Mitchell, Dave Magadan, John Gibbons, Mookie Wilson, Rafael Santana, Bud Harrelson, Randy Myers, Vern Hoscheit, Greg Pavlick, Lee Mazzilli, Doug Sisk, Tim Teufel, and several more. The signatures have been written in blue pen. This ball comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A03272).
