With the help of veteran pitcher and Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, the Houston Astros won the National League Western Division title in 1986 with a 96-66 record. Ryan, at the age of 39 in 1986, pitched to a 3.34 ERA in 178 innings, and finished with a 12-8 record. This size 46 navy blue pullover jacket with partial zipper front was manufactured by W.A. Goodman & Sons and features horizontal red, orange and yellow stripes patterned after the famous “rainbow” jerseys worn by the Astros, across the chest and on the sleeves. Across the chest above the horizontal stripes is “Astros” that has been sewn on in white tackle twill. The left sleeve has a diamond “1962 ASTROS 1986 Silver Anniversary” patch sewn on. Ryan’s number “34’ is sewn on in a 1 x 1 inch patch below the W.A. Goodman & Sons size 46 tag on the inside back collar. This jacket shows light to moderate use and comes with a COA from Upper Deck and full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema that authenticates the use by Ryan. There is a photograph of Nolan Ryan wearing this style jacket standing next to Pete Rose that is presented with this lot but will NOT be included.
