Offered is Nick Anderson’s 1987-1988 University of Illinois Most Valuable Player plaque. The 2½ x 12 x 15-inch brown and black woodgrain board award features a 2 x 3 x 8-inch gold plastic figure of a basketball player below a 6 x 8-inch gold metal plaque. The plaque is engraved with the legend “University of Illinois M.V.P. 1987-88 Nick Anderson”. Anderson was co-MVP of Illinois coach Lou Henson’s 1987-1988 Fighting Illini squad, along with Kenny Battle. The ’87-88 squad went 23-10, 12-6 in the Big Ten, and lost in the second round of the 1988 NCAA Basketball Tournament to Villanova, 66-63. Anderson finished his sophomore season with a team-high 525 points and a team-high 217 rebounds.
