Guided by legendary head coach Bobby Knight, and led on the court by sharpshooter Steve Alford, the 1986-87 Indiana Hoosiers recorded an overall record of 30-4. Alford averaged 22.0 points per game, recording an incredible three-point shooting percentage of .530, while also shooting 88.9% from the free throw line. Daryl Thomas added 15.7 PPG; Dean Garrett posted a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game. First, in the national semifinal game, Indiana defeated number one-seeded UNLV, 97-93. The Hoosiers then went on to beat Syracuse, 74-73, in the championship game.
