Former Major League manager Jim Leyland won 1,769 games in 22 seasons as manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies and Detroit Tigers. Leyland spent his first 11 of those seasons in Pittsburgh, where he was Manager of the Year in 1990 and 1992, leading the Pirates to three consecutive National League East titles. Leyland also was Manager of the Year for the Detroit Tigers in 2006.

Offered is this Rawlings size 40 pullover Pittsburgh Pirates road jersey worn by Leyland during the 1987 season. This gray jersey features “PIRATES” arched across the chest in black on yellow tackle twill, along with Leyland’s number “10”, which is sewn on the right center front. The v-neck collar has a ribbed black/yellow/black pattern and each sleeve has the same ribbed color pattern. The back of the jersey has Leyland’s “10” sewn on in black on yellow tackle twill and “LEYLAND” sewn on in black and yellow on a matching gray name plate. The left sleeve has a “PIRATES 1887-1987” gold diamond patch while the right sleeve has “RSC” screen printed in black block letters to honor of former Pittsburgh Mayor Richard Caligiuri, who passed away in May of 1988. Most likely, Leyland used this jersey for multiple seasons as the Rawlings tag, which is sewn on the inside front left tail, also has a “SET 1 1987” flap. This jersey comes with a full LOA from Mike Gordon, Director of Marketing Communications for the Pittsburgh Pirates (dated May 20, 1999) which states “the accompanying Pirates away jersey was worn by Jim Leyland in 1987 and has all of the proper tagging.”
