Behind the big bats of Kirby Puckett, Kent Hrbek, Gary Gaetti and Tom Brunansky, the 1987 Minnesota Twins finished the regular season atop the American League West. Hrbek (34), Brunansky (32) and Gaetti (31) all recorded at least 30 home runs for the season, with Gaetti also knocking in 109 runs. Puckett hit .332 to go along with his 28 HRs and 99 RBIs. The pitching staff was led by Frank Viola, who went 17-10 with a 2.90 ERA. In the postseason, the Twins first defeated the Detroit Tigers to win the ALCS before beating the St. Louis Cardinals in a seven-game World Series.

A diamond-filled Twins “M” logo sits on a blue stone, with “WORLD CHAMPIONS” reading in relief work.
