Despite the Baltimore Orioles tough season, Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. still put up solid numbers in 1988. Ripken played in all 161 games the Orioles played and hit 23 home runs, with 81 RBI and a .264 batting average. Ripken wore this road gray Baltimore Orioles jersey during the 1988 season. This Rawlings size 48 button-down jersey features “Orioles” diagonally across the front and Ripken’s number “8” sewn on the front in orange and black tackle twill. The collar has black and orange borders and the sleeve ends have black, white and orange stripes. The back of the jersey has “RIPKEN” sewn on in orange and black tackle twill on a matching gray nameplate. The number “8” is also sewn on the back in orange and black tackle twill. The left sleeve has “EBW” sewn on in black tackle twill in memory of Edward Bennett Williams, the Orioles owner who passed away on August 13, 1988. The inside front left tail has the Rawlings size 48 tag, with an additional gray tag with “T” in black and a “SET 1 1988” flag attached, along with a “2 INCH ENTRA LENGTH” tag below the Rawlings tag. This jersey displays moderate game use and comes with a LOA from MEARS (314642), who have graded this jersey a perfect A10.
