Presented is a 1988 Lou Holtz National Championship award clock. The 16 x 12-inch award incorporates a brown wood frame and a blue metal clock featuring the 1988 University of Notre Dame football results engraved in gold letters at the left, and a black, silver, white, brown and green clock dial with the image of a quarterback dropping back to pass at its center at the right. Across the top center is engraved the legend "1988 National Champions University of Notre Dame". Below the legend is engraved, at the right "1988 Season Record Undefeated 12-0" above the full '88 season results engraved below. Below the results is engraved "Coach Lou Holtz". Holtz's 1988 Irish ended the season with 12 wins and no losses, winning the national championship. The Fighting Irish won the title by defeating the previously unbeaten and No. 3 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers in the Sunkist Fiesta Bowl in Tempe, Arizona, by a score of a 34–21. The 1988 squad, one of 11 national title squads for the Irish, is considered to be one of the best undefeated teams in the history of college football. This comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
