Presented is a 1990 American Football Coaches Association award presented to University of Notre Dame football head coach Lou Holtz and his staff. The brown wood plaque features a bronze colored metal plaque at the top center with the logo of "The American Football Coaches Association Founded 1922" engraved with the figure of a coach standing behind a kneeling football player, pointing towards a field. Below the logo plate is a black metal plaque etched in gold with the caption "1990 INDEPENDENT Ranked in Top 10 NCAA Division I-A University of Notre Dame". At the lower center is another black metal plate etched in gold with the caption "The AMERICAN FOOTBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION Congratulates LOU HOLTZ and His Staff Presented by the Gerrits/Pepsi-Cola Foundation". The Fighting Irish finished the 1990 season ranked #6 in both the coaches' and Associated Press polls, with a 9-3 overall record and a 10-9 loss to Colorado in the Orange Bowl. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
