When Larry Bird entered the NBA starting in the 1979-80 season, the power forward from French Lick, Indiana and Indiana Statue University not only helped resuscitate a proud franchise that had fallen on down times, he also helped invigorate the NBA with the help of collegiate rival Magic Johnson. Bird led the Boston Celtics to three NBA titles, won three NBA MVP’s and was a 12-time All-Star. Bird played his entire 13-year career with the Celtics, finishing with 21,791 points – 24.3 points per game average, and was named to the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players.

Offered here is a full Boston Celtics road green uniform consisting of a jersey and shorts that was worn by Larry Bird during his final season in 1991-92 and possibly one of the last Celtics’ uniforms ever worn by Bird. During that season, despite injuries that limited Bird to 45 games, he still managed to average 20.2 points per game. The size 48 Champion green mesh jersey features “CELTICS” arched across the chest in sewn on white tackle twill. Bird’s iconic number “33” is sewn on in white tackle twill on the center front. The back of the jersey has “BIRD” and his “33” sewn on in white tackle twill. The collar and open arms have a white/green/white striping pattern made of a ribbed material and the NBA logo is embroidered in red, white and blue on the left shoulder. The Champion tag and the Champion “YEAR 1991 BODY LENGTH +3” tag are sewn on the bottom front left tail. The jersey displays light use and Bird has signed his name in black marker on the bottom rung of the right “3” on the back of the jersey.

Also offered are matching pair of green mesh shorts that Bird wore in his last season of 1991-92. These shorts were manufactured by Champion and are a 36 waist size. These shorts have a thick white expandable waist line with white/green/white striping down each side and on the bottom of the shorts. The NBA logo is embroidered in red, white and blue on the lower right thigh. The Champion tag and the Champion “YEAR 1991 INSEAM +1 RISE +1” tag are sewn on the inside back waistband. “33” is hand written in black marker on the year tag and the off-white draw-string is still intact. The jersey and shorts come with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema and a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
