San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice wore this jersey during the 1990 NFL season, his sixth in the NFL. Already considered one of the best wideouts in the game, Rice led the NFL with 100 catches, 1,502 yards and 13 touchdowns in 1990. Rice would go on to play 14 more seasons in the NFL, finishing his career as the all-time leader in touchdowns and receiving yards. Rice was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
This red home jersey has been photo matched to the November 18, 1990 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Candlestick Park, where Rice has four catches and 46 yards in the Niners’ 31-7 victory which moved them to 10-0. This jersey has also been photo matched to the NFC Divisional Playoff game against the Washington Redskins on January 12, 1991 where the 49ers advanced to the NFC Championship Game with a 28-10 victory with Rice making six catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. While wearing this jersey, this was the last time Rice caugth a TD pass from Joe Montana as those two were the most prolific QB/WR duo in NFL history.
This jersey has Rice’s number “80” sewn on the chest, sleeves, and back in white tackle twill. “RICE” is sewn across the back shoulders in white tackle twill on a matching red nameplate. Three white screen-printed stripes adorn the sleeves, with the left sleeve sporting an additional red Wilson logo. Remnants of the Wilson’s manufacturer’s tag appears on the bottom front center tail. This jersey shows light to moderate game wear, evident primarily in the puckering of the numbers and abrasions on the shoulders. Rice signed his name on the top of the “8” digit on the back in black marker and inscribed “#80”.
