Offered here is one of the earliest professional bats offered from recently elected Hall of Famer Derek Jeter. Jeter was drafted by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 1992 MLB Draft right out of Kalamazoo Central High School. Jeter spent the 1993 season as a member of the Single A Greensboro Hornets of the South Atlantic League. This was Jeter’s second year, but his first full season as a pro.

Jeter began to show why he was selected in the first round as he finished the 1993 season with a .295 average, 5 home runs and 71 RBI in 128 games. Jeter led the Hornets to the North Division title with an 85-56 record, while advancing to the SAL Finals before falling to the Savanah Cardinals 3-2 in the Championship Series.

This Louisville Slugger P72 model bat was used by Jeter during his early days as a pro and has been dated to the 1992-93 seasons. This bat displays outstanding game use and has a crack on the handle. There are ball marks and black ink transfer marks present on the left and back barrel. Additionally, there are red bat rack streaks on the barrel and a heavy coating of pine tar on the handle. “Jeter” is handwritten in black marker on the knob. Adding to this already outstanding bat is the early-career signature of the future Yankees’ captain in black marker on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19201) and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5. There is also a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
