The 1992 Dream Team was the most staggering collection of basketball talent ever assembled. The 1992 Barcelona Olympics were the first to allow professional basketball players, so the United States contingent sent their 12 finest athletes to seek the gold medal. Led by Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan, the Dream Team won every game of the tournament by a margin of 32 points or greater. Their opening round game, a 116-48 victory against an overmatched Angolan side is one of the lasting images of the tournament, as the United States announced with authority their presence in the Olympics. The Dream Team found themselves matched up with a skilled team from Croatia, led by future Bull Toni Kukoc, in the gold medal game. In what would prove to be the closest game of the tournament for the Americans, Croatia fell by a score of 117 to 85.

     The Dream Team left a lasting impact on American basketball, with all Olympic teams now held to the same standard of MJ and Magic’s squad of 1992. The entire Dream Team, including coach Chuck Daly, was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010. Included in this lot are 12 single-signed basketballs from every player on the Dream Team.
