Former knuckleballer Tim Wakefield spent that vast majority of his career with the Boston Red Sox, which included two World Series Titles. Before joining Boston in 1995, Wakefield was a catalyst for the Pittsburgh Pirates run to the National League East title. As a mid-season call-up, Wakefield’s 13 starts produced an impressive 8-1 record with a 2.15 ERA.
Wakefield wore this button-down Rawlings size 46 Pirates road jersey during the 1992 season. This gray jersey features “Pittsburgh” sewn on in cursive script across the chest in black and yellow tackle twill, with Wakefield’s number “49” sewn on the center front right chest. “WAKEFIELD” is sewn on in black and yellow on a matching gray nameplate on the back of the jersey along with his number “49”. Each sleeve has a ribbed black/yellow/black pattern and the left sleeve has a “Pirates” diamond logo patch sewn on. The red Rawlings tag is sewn on the inside front right tail. The jersey displays moderate use with loose stitching on the numbers and letters. This jersey comes with a full LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
