Known for her unique style that flaunted conventional wisdom about what a runner should wear on the track, Olympic silver and gold medalist Florence Griffith Joyner retired from competitive track and field competition in 1988 to focus on fashion design, a passion of Joyner’s since her youth. Joyner won two silver medals during the 1984 Summer Olympics in the 200 meter and 4x400 meter runs, and Joyner won three gold medals in the 100 meter, 200 meter, and 4x100 meter runs during the 1988 Summer Olympics Seoul, South Korea retiring promptly after. Joyner was tapped by the Indiana Pacers in 1989 to redesign their uniforms after an intern showed executives Joyner’s style. The Joyner-designed uniforms were worn by the team from 1990 to 1997. The unique designs are still a favorite amongst fans to this day, with the Pacers choosing the uniforms as their NBA Hardwood Classic throwback choice in 2015.

Presented here is an Indiana Pacers “Flo-Jo” jersey worn by Hall of Fame Indiana Pacer Reggie Miller during a photo shoot in 1994 and has been photo matched by Resolution Photomatching to that shoot. The Pacers would win their first playoff series since joining the NBA, capturing the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference on a 47-35 record and would advance all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals where they would lose a hotly contested series in seven games most remembered for Miller taunting director Spike Lee, a Knicks fan, from the court during a Game 5 that saw Miller score 25 points in the fourth quarter. The white with navy and yellow stripes on the right side that wrap around to the back features navy, white, and yellow trim around the sleeves and the deep N-neck collar. “PACERS” appears across the chest in navy-on-yellow tackle twill. The number “31” appears on the chest and back of the jersey in navy-on-yellow tackle twill. An embroidered NBA logo in red, white, and blue rests on the left shoulder of the jersey. A Champion NBA manufacturing tag labeled “DESIGNED 1993-1994 & TAILORED EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE INDIANA PACERS BODY LENGTH +0 SLEEVE LENGTH+0” is affixed to the jersey’s left front tail next to a Champion size “42” manufacturing tag. “MILLER” appears in navy-on-yellow tackle twill across the back of the jersey. The jersey is in excellent condition and shows no signs of use. A pair of white mesh shorts utilizing a navy, yellow, and navy stripe scheme on the right side of the shorts feature an embroidered NBA logo on the right leg. An Indiana Pacers patch in tackle twill rests upon the left leg of the shorts in yellow, white, and navy. A Champion NBA manufacturing tag labeled “DESIGNED 1993-1994 & TAILORED EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE INDIANA PACERS RISE +2 INSEAM +2” manufacturing tag is located on the inside waistband of the drawstring shorts next to a Champion size “36” manufacturing tag. The number “31” written with a black marker appears on the Champion manufacturing tag. The shorts have a stain on the left thigh. The jersey was photo matched to a photoshoot conducted during the 1993-94 season. The 1993-94 “Flo-Jo” Indiana Pacers uniform comes with an LOA from Resolution Photomatching (426427).
