Oakland Athletics first baseman Mark McGwire wore this white A’s home jersey in 1993, his eighth season in the Major Leagues. McGwire started the season on a tear, hitting nine home runs with 25 RBI and more walks than strikeouts in his first 25 games before foot injuries limited him to only two more appearances that season, both as a pinch hitter in September. McGwire’s batting average in 1993 was .333, a number that would have been a career-high if McGwire’s health allowed him to play the entire season.
This button-down home jersey has “Athletics” and McGwire’s number “25” sewn on the chest in green and yellow tackle twill. “McGWIRE” is sewn across the back shoulders in green and yellow tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. A second “25” is sewn on the back, again in green and yellow tackle twill. An A’s elephant logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve while a green Russell Athletic logo is sewn on the right sleeve. A Russell Athletic size “48” tag with attached “1[inch] Extra Sleeve Length” and “100% Polyester” flags is sewn on the front left tail. This jersey shows light to moderate wear and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
