Prolific pass catcher Art Monk, who helped usher in the era of pass-heavy offenses, wore this New York Jets road jersey during the 1994 NFL season, his only campaign with the team. Monk, in his penultimate NFL season, was a reliable second option at wide receiver, catching 46 passes for 581 yards and three touchdowns for the Pete Carroll led Jets. Monk would finish his career, which ended after spending the 1995 season with the Eagles, with 12,271 receiving yards and 68 touchdowns. He was the first player to surpass 900 career receptions, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008. According to NFL Films, the standing ovation for Monk after his induction speech was the longest ever measured at over four minutes long.
This white road jersey has Monk’s number “81” sewn on the chest and back in green tackle twill, and on the sleeves in white tackle twill. “MONK” is sewn across the back shoulders in green tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. A NFL 75th Anniversary patch is sewn on the left chest and Champion logos are sewn on the green and white sleeves. This jersey shows light wear, and game use has been determined by a photo match from Resolution Photomatching.
