Brazil won their fourth World Cup title in 1994, defeating Italy in a rematch of the historic 1970 FIFA World Cup Final. The Rose Bowl hosted the World Cup Final, with over 94,000 fans witnessing an electric penalty shootout to decide the World Cup champions. With shootout goals from Branco, Romario, and Dunga, Brazil were able to persevere over a resilient Italian team. This was the first World Cup Final to go to penalties. Romario bagged five goals in the tournament to earn the Golden Ball as the best player, while he and his teammates Dunga, Jorginho, and Marcio Santos were named to the tournament’s Best XI. Offered in this lot is a 1994 FIFA World Cup Trophy originating from the personal memorabilia collection of Alexandre Silva Da Silveira, an official with the Brazilian Football Confederation. This stunning Bertoni trophy is gold in color and stands on a dark stone pedestal. A plaque on the pedestal features a high relief etching that reads “XV FIFA World Cup”. Also etched on the plaque is “USA 94” and the USA World Cup logo. A raised Bertoni logo is present on the back of the pedestal. This trophy comes in the original blue presentation box and is accompanied by a LOA from Da Silveira.
