Michael Jordan surprised the basketball and entire sports world when he announced his retirement prior to the start of the 1993-94 season after leading his Chicago Bulls to the first of their “3-Peat” championships. Citing his lack of desire to play basketball and the tragic murder of his father, Jordan embarked on a new career – baseball. In February of 1994, Jordan signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox and reported to spring training in Florida. Jordan was assigned to the AA Birmingham Barons, where he finished the season with a .202 average, three home runs and 51 RBI.

After finishing the season in Birmingham in the Southern League, Jordan then appeared for the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League where he used this Louisville Slugger R219 model bat. Order records indicate that this gamer was manufactured on November 8, 1994 for Jordan for his stint in Arizona as the Scorpions last game was on December 1st. “MICHAEL JORDAN” is stamped on the barrel beneath the model number “R219” and this all-black bat displays excellent game use with repeated ball stitch impressions and a crack in the handle. There is also an impression of a weighted donut and Jordan’s number “45” has been hand written in silver marker on the knob. Jordan had a much better showing in the Arizona Fall League as he batted .252 against some of the game’s best prospects. This rare Michael Jordan gamer from his Arizona Fall League days comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B12659), who have graded this bat a “GU 8”.
