Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. made history on September 6, 1995 against the California Angels when he appeared in his 2,131st consecutive game and surpassed what many believe was the unbreakable record previously set by Lou Gehrig. For his achievement, Ripken was presented with this crystal award that is 8 ½ inches at its longest length and 5 inches at its tallest height. This irregular-shaped crystal has a head image of Ripken etched on the left that appears in the background with an image of him throwing from his shortstop position etched on the right. In the foreground is etched “2131 CONSECUTIVE GAMES SEPTEMBER 6TH, 1995”. Also etched on the front is “THE IRON MAN” on the left and “CAL RIPKEN JR.” on the right. This crystal comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item.
