Presented is a 1996 Lou Holtz record-breaking game worn, signed and inscribed University of Notre Dame adjustable baseball cap, worn by the legendary head football coach when he broke another legend, Knute Rockne's record for most games coached at Notre Dame on September 14, 1996. The Navy-blue cap has the iconic "ND" logo embroidered in gold on the front, above the word "Irish" also embroidered in gold. On the white underside of the brim, Holtz has inscribed (in black marker) "This hat was worn by me for the Purdue game, Notre Dame 35, Purdue 0 Broke Knute Rockne's record for Most Games Coached at Notre Dame" above his signature. Below his signature, Holtz inscribed "9/14/96". The back of the cap features a blue-plastic adjustable strip, with a gold embroidered Reebok logo above the gap. Rockne coached 122 games with the Irish; the win over Purdue was the 123 game coached by Holtz at Notre Dame. This comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
