Encapsulated and graded MINT 9 by BGS. Presented here is a 1996 Japanese Base Set Blastoise Holographic card with no rarity symbol. This card marks the debut appearance of Blastoise in any TCG set. The Base set was released in Japan in 1996, after the success of the Pokémon Gameboy games, by The Media Factory. This card was one of the earliest printed Pokémon cards, given that it has no rarity symbol, despite the fact that it is a Rare Holofoil from the Base set. It is said that the "no rarity" cards were only printed for approximately three months (until December 1996), making them exceedingly hard-to-find. Of the three examples of this card currently in the Beckett population report, this is the only card graded at its tier, with none graded higher. Population report information is accurate up to the time in which a lot is posted for auction and is subject to change. The card's BGS condition report: Centering: 8.5, Corners: 10, Edges: 9.5, Surface: 9.5. Gem Mint condition.
