The presence of Roberto Alomar in the Baltimore Orioles lineup was the final component needed to make the O’s a solid contender. In 1996, his first season with the Birds, Alomar teamed with Cal Ripken, Jr. to form a solid double play combo and his .328 bat helped propel the O’s to their first post-season berth since 1983.
