Not only is Hall of Fame manager Tom Lasorda one of the great baseball managers in history, he also one of the great ambassadors of baseball. Lasorda had the unenviable task of following legendary manager Walter Alston, who won four World Series titles with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1954 to 1976. Lasorda to the Dodgers reign in 1977 and immediately led them to back-to-back World Series appearances, falling to the New York Yankees in both series. Lasorda and the Dodgers would finally achieve glory in 1981, defeating the hated Yankees in six games after falling behind 2-0 in the series.

Lasorda would continue to guide the Dodgers through a very successful 1980’s decade as Los Angeles would capture four National League West Division titles, culminating in the Dodgers’ second, and to-date, last World Series title in 1988. Lasorda was twice named NL Manager of the Year (1983 and 1988) and he would manage nine players who would become NL Rookie’s of the Year. When Lasorda retired in 1996, his 16 wins and 30 National League Championship games were the most of any manager in history. Lasorda also came out of retirement in 2000 and helped lead Team USA to the gold medal in the Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

Offered is the very Hall of Fame plaque presented to Thomas Charles Lasorda for his induction into Cooperstown. This heavy plaque measures 6 x 9 inches and is modeled after the official plaque that is displayed in Cooperstown. Lasorda’s raised portrait with him wearing a Dodgers’ cap is on the front with “THOMAS CHARLES LASORDA LOS ANGELES, NL, 1977-1996 ONE OF BASEBALL’S MOST ENGAGING PERSONALITIES AND A GREAT AMBASSADOR FOR HIS SPORT MANAGED DEODGERS WITH AN IMPENETRABLE PASSION, CLAIMING TO “BLEED DODGER BLUE” IN HIS 47TH SEASON WITH THE DODGERS ORGANIZATION WHEN HE RETIRED AS MANAGER. PENNANTS AND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 1981 AND 1988. 61 POST-SEASON GAMES MANAGED RANKS SECOND MOST IN HISTORY.” The plaque rests on a ¾-inch thick wood base and is rounded at the top. The plaque is in good condition with minor edge wear on the wood and plaque. This historic plaque comes with a LOA from Tom Lasorda.
