Presented is a Leroy Neiman signature on a lithographic print of his portrait of former St. Louis Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire. The famed sports artist has signed his name in yellow pen in the lower right corner of the 22 x 34-inch print, which depicts McGwire in a white Cardinals uniform completing a swing for the fences, wearing a red St. Louis batting helmet. The multi-colored image is painted in yellow, red, blue, white, green and purple acrylic paint, and captures McGwire at the height of his fame during the 1998 Major League Baseball season. Neiman’s 1998 portrait depicts the slugger during his run to 70 home runs, shattering the previous single-season mark of 61 set by the legendary New York Yankees outfielder Roger Maris in 1961. The print is mounted in a white paper matte with an orange border and displayed in a 32 x 43½-inch gold wood frame and glass. This item comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication.
