As one of the charter members of Major League Soccer, DC United’s success took off right away by winning the first two titles in league history in 1996 and 1997. The 1998 squad finished second and head coach Bruce Arena left DC United to coach the US Men’s National Team. DC United didn’t miss a beat in 1999 as they brought in Dutch coach Thomas Rongen and led by the goal scoring prowess of Roy Lassiter (18 goals), DC United were back on top again in the MLS as they won their third title in four seasons with a 2-0 victory the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 1999 MLS Cup Final.

Offered here is a 1999 MLS Champions DC United ring that was presented to a member of the club’s staff. This ring is made by Tiffany & Co. and is 18K gold as marked by the “750” engraving on the inner band. “DC UNITED” and “MLS CHAMPIONS” are in raised relief along the outside with “19” and “99” in between. One shank has “O’CONNOR” and the DC United shield logo all in raised relief. The logo iis period correct as it was used from 1998 to 2015. The opposite shank has the MLS Cup trophy with a “MLS CUP ‘99” banner across the center, three shooting stars and “11-21-99” below, all in raised relief. The inner band has the aforementioned “750” engraving, along with “TIFFANY & CO”. The ring weighs approximately 24.57 grams, is roughly a size 9 and is good overall condition. This comes with a velvet covered ring box.
