At the conclusion of the 20th Century, Ken Griffey, Jr. was acknowledged as one of the greatest ballplayers of the entire century. In 1999 he was not only given the Players Choice Awards Player of the Decade honors (picked by the players) but was named to the ulra-exclusive MLB All-Century Team where he took his place among baseball’s immortals.
This outstanding game used bat was the one Junior used in the June 9, 1999 game against Colorado to hit his 23rd home run of the year, the 373rd of his career. The solo blast came in the top of the 4th off Brian Bohanon. Griffey’s Louisville Slugger C271 model bat is un-cracked and shows outstanding use. Many ball marks and stitch impressions cover the barrel along with blue ink. Transfers and white leather ball scuffs. The handle has been taped to 7 ¼” in a criss-cross pattern to enhance the grip and the Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in silver marker with “HR 23 99.” This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (G55516) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10 and a signed COA from Ken Griffey Jr for the game use and signature.
