Tino Martinez held down first base for what might be the greatest dynasty in baseball history – the 1996-2000 New York Yankees. Facing the unenviable task of replacing Yankee legend and fan-favorite Don Mattingly following the 1995 season, Martinez quickly became one of the key members of the dynasty run to close out the 20th century.
In that five-year slot, Martinez helped bring four World Championships to the Bronx including 1999 from which season this bat dates to. The Louisville Slugger H238 model bat is un-cracked and shows evidence of excellent use. There are several ball marks and stitch impressions on the barrel. Other marks on the barrel include cleat impressions and a moderate coat of pine tar has been applied to the upper handle. Martinez’s number “24” is hand written in black marker on the knob end. Martinez signed his name in blue marker on the barrel and added the inscription “2000 Champs”. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B06349) for the game use, and has graded this bat a GU 9. There is also a Steiner Sports hologram next to Martinez’s autograph authenticating his signature.
