A black alternate jersey was worn by Cal Ripken Jr. during the 1999 season that saw the Hall of Fame shortstop bat .340 with 117 hits, 18 home runs and 57 RBI and another All-Star Selection. The six-button black polyester jersey features orange trim on the sleeves and features “ORIOLES” in cursive orange-on-black-on-white tackle twill across the chest with a paraph. The number “8” appears on the chest and back of the jersey in orange-on-black-on-white tackle twill. A Russell Athletics MLB DIAMOND COLLECTION size “48” manufacturer’s tag with “100% POLYESTER” and “LENGTH 2” flags appear on the jersey’s left front tail. A white swatch with “1999” printed in black appears on the left front tail. An Oriole bird patch rests upon the left sleeve. The right sleeve features the number “7” in black-on-orange-on-white tackle twill to honor the late Cal Ripken Sr. and a Russell Athletics “R” logo in orange appear on the right sleeve. “RIPKEN” appears across the back of the jersey in orange-on-black-on-white tackle twill. The jersey contains a moderate amount of game use and contains white stains on the front placket near the collar and white stains on the chest. The black Baltimore Orioles jersey worn by Cal Ripken Jr. during the 1999 season comes from his personal collection and is accompanied by a signed LOA from Ripken Jr. for the game use.
