Jay Tessmer attended the University of Miami where he played in the 1994 and 1995 College World Series and was named Coral Gables Regional MVP. He was drafted by the Yankees in the 1995 MLB Draft and played for the Yankees over 4 years beginning in 1998. Tessmer was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in April 2013.
This home, pinstripe button-up jersey was worn by Tessmer during the 2000 World Series where the Yankees defeated their cross-town rivals the New York Mets 4 games to 1. In beating the Mets, the Yankees became the first team in baseball to three-peat as champions since the 1972–1974 Oakland Athletics. The upper left front of the jersey features the classic Yankee logo while the left front tail a Russell Athletics manufacturer tag with size 54 indicated. Below the manufacturer tag are flag tags indicating the year (2000) as well as the jersey being 100% polyester. The back of the jersey sports Tessmer’s number 57. The right sleeve features the 2000 World Series patch and the left sleeve a memorial armband worn in 2000 to honor Bob Lemon. The jersey comes with an LOA from Steiner Sports.
