At the close of the 20th century, the Baltimore Orioles in conjunction with the Baltimore Sun and van voting, put together an All-Century Team. When the votes were tallied, Earl Weaver was selected as Manager, Jim Palmer as Pitcher, Rick Dempsey as Catcher, Eddie Murray as First Baseman, Davey Johnson as Second Baseman, Brooks Robinson as Third Baseman, Cal Ripken, Jr. as Shortstop, Frank Robinson as Outfielder and Harold Baines as Designated Hitter. Offered here is the very silver plate awarded to Hall of Famer and baseball’s Iron Man Cal Ripken, Jr. for his selection on the Baltimore Orioles’ All-Century Team. This silver plate is 10 ½ inches in diameter and has the “Orioles” and paraph logo engraved on the top with “of the Century Team Top Vote Leaders By Position” next to it. It has the players listed “Earl Weaver, Mgr Jim Palmer, P Rick Dempsey, CA Eddie Murray, 1B” in the left column and “Davey Johnson, 2B Brooks Robinson, 3B Cal Ripken, SS Frank Robinson, OF” in the right column. “Harold Baines, DH” is centered between the two columns. Below is “Presented To Cal Ripken Opening Day 2000”. This silver plate displays some tarnish, but is in otherwise good condition and comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item.
