LeBron James was the most celebrated high school basketball prospect in history, a preternaturally talented man-child who was expected to dominate professional players as soon as he hit the court. Somehow, LeBron has exceeded the wild expectations originally heaped upon him, winning three NBA Finals and four NBA MVP awards in the first 14 seasons of his career.

Offered here is one of the premier high school jerseys worn by LeBron James ever offered for auction. James wore this St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish jersey during the 2001-2003 seasons of high school basketball, as he became the clear top choice in the upcoming 2003 NBA Draft. LeBron was a dominant force, averaging 30.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game in his senior season, winning almost every available accolade, including Ohio Mr. Basketball, for his stellar play. He scored 50 points in a game twice, including a 52-point performance against L.A. Westchester (Calif.).

This white mesh jersey has “IRISH” sewn on the chest in green and gold tackle twill. James’ number “23” is also sewn on the front in green and gold tackle twill. A fighting leprechaun decal has been applied to the green V-neck collar intersection. An American flag ribbon has been applied to the front left chest area and a white patch with “ST. VINCENT ST. MARY” and a clover in green is sewn on the upper left chest that covers the green Adidas logo. An “On Sports” size “XL” tag has been sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. The back has “JAMES” and “23” sewn on in green and gold tackle twill with a “M” fighting Irish logo patch above the name. A horizontal gold piping stripe runs above LeBron’s name and two gold vertical stripes adorns the sides. This incredible jersey comes with a LOA from MEARS, who have graded this jersey its highest score of A10. While not mentioned in the LOA, Troy Kinunen of MEARS told us this “might be the finest Irish LeBron James jersey in the hobby”. There is also a notarized letter of provenance from Anthony Ramsey, who states in his LOA that “This LeBron James game-used high school jersey was given to me by my close friend and play sister, Gloria James, at the direction of her son and my friend, LeBron James. LeBron wore this jersey during his time at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. I met Gloria and LeBron James at the apartment complex we all lived in, Spring Hill Apartments in Akron, Ohio. My building was located directly behind theirs”.
