Albert Pujols exploded into the National League in the spring of 2001 as one of the most anticipated rookies in the history of the game. Using a variety of different makes and models of bats, including this one, Pujols’ .329 average and 37 home runs earned him the National League Rookie of the Year. 

Pujols used this Original Maple Bat Co. SG1 SAM Bat during the 2001 season. This bat displays moderate game use and has a crack on the barrel with a 5 ½ x 1 ½ inch piece missing from that crack. There are ball marks and bat rack streaks present on the barrel. Pujols’ number “5” is hand written in black marker on an Original Maple Bat Co. sticker on the knob. Pujols has signed his name in black marker on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15301) for the game use and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A77529) for the signature.
