After 21 seasons, 3001 games, 431 home runs, 1,695 RBI, a .276 batting average, 2 American League MVP’s, the 1982 AL Rookie of the Year, a World Series champion in 1983 and the holder of the longest consecutive games played streak of 2,632 games, Hall of Famer Cal Ripken retired following the 2001 season. Ripken played his final game of his career on October 6, 2001 against the Boston Red Sox at Camden Yards in Baltimore and the Orioles presented Cal with this retirement award.

This award measures approximately 12 ½ inches tall and has two parts, an 8 x 8 x 2 ½-inch wood base and a 10-inch tall silver chalice cup. A gold plate is affixed to the front of the wood base that reads “Presented to Cal Ripken, Jr. upon his retirement from Major League Baseball by the Baltimore Orioles, on October 6, 2001 at Camden Yards.” The chalice is not attached to the base and rests on a felt covered circular top on the wood base. This award is in overall good condition, displaying some tarnish and edge wear. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item.
