One of the most imposing pitchers in Major League history, 5X Cy Young Award winner Randy Johnson’s career is chock full of MLB records and accomplishments. The Big Unit’s performance in the 2001 post-season stands as one of his finest hours, when, along with Curt Schilling, he lifted the Arizona Diamondbacks onto his shoulders and carried them to their one and only World Series Championship. After dropping his 1 start vs. St. Louis in the NLDS, the 37-year old Johnson defied expectations throughout the NLCS and World Series. In 5 appearances (4 starts), Johnson allowed just 4 runs in 33.1 IP while striking out 38. He earned the win in each of his 5 appearances in the final 2 rounds of the playoffs, including a win out of the bullpen in Game 7 of the World Series that cemented his selection as WS MVP. Randy Johnson has signed and inscribed this Official Selig Major League Baseball, game used in Game 5 of the 2001 NLCS, “Randy Johnson ’01 NLCS GM 5” in blue ink on the sweet spot. Johnson earned his 2nd win of the post-season at Turner Field in Atlanta, GA, striking out 8 in 7 IP while allowing only 2 runs on 7 hits. A game to remember in a post-season for the ages. The ball shows game usage as expected, and is tagged with MLB Authentication Hologram #GR096376.Item is also accompanied by a sticker from Steiner.
