The 2001 Sears National Champions trophy in Near Mint condition, measuring 6" x 5" x 14". The scarce award is an exact replica of the larger trophy presented on field to the U. These smaller-version trophies, similar to baseball player's World Series trophies, are believed to have been made available only to team players and University officials. An ornate Waterford Crystal football crowns the piece. Below, the black wooden base/pedestal has logos for the trophy's name, the American Football Coaches Association, and "SEARS COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONS," along with lettering that reads, "THE NATIONAL CHAMPION - UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI 2001 - USA TODAY/ESPN TOP 25 COACHES' POLL." All of this ornamentation appears on both sides of the trophy. The 2001 Miami Hurricanes football team was the national champion of the 2001 college football season, voted by ESPN as one of the top college football teams of all-time. They finished the 2001 season with a 37–14 drubbing of the vastly overmatched 2001 Nebraska Cornhuskers in the BCS National Championship Game. Team included 17 players who would be selected in the first round of the NFL draft and NFL superstars such as Andre Johnson, Kellen Winslow II, Ed Reed, Frank Gore, Willis McGahee, Jeremy Shockey and many more. This is not the 12 inch tall replica award, but is the actual team issue 14 inch tall award.
