The emergence of David Wright brought the New York Mets closer to the top of the National League as the third baseman made his presence field immediately in his first full season of 2005 when he clubbed 27 home runs, drove in 102 and maintained a solid .306 average. Offered here is one of the jerseys worn by Wright during the 2005 season. This alternate black New York Mets button-down jersey was manufactured by Majestic and features “Mets” and Wright’s number “5” sewn on the front in blue, white and orange tackle twill. Blue piping runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons and an extra Velcro closure was added beneath the Mets wordmark. The back of this jersey has “WRIGHT” and “5” sewn on in blue, white and orange tackle twill. The left sleeve has the Mets midnight-variant “skyline” logo patch sewn on. The inside front left tail has a Majestic tag with a “46” and “SET 1 2005” flags attached. This jersey displays some use with evidence of washing. Wright has signed his name in silver marker on the top of the “5” on the back and inscribed “5”. This jersey comes with a LOA from noted baseball game used jersey expert William Henderson (21-0603J02) for the game use and a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
