Before Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia burst onto the Major League scene in 2007, where he would be the American League Rookie of the Year and help lead the Red Sox to their second World Series in three years, Pedroia rose through the Red Sox minor league system. After being selected in the second round by Boston, Pedroia played for the AA Portland Sea Dogs of the Eastern League at the start of 2005 season.

     Pedroia wore this red mesh Portland Sea Dogs alternate jersey during his stint with the Sea Dogs in 2005. This red Wilson button-down jersey is a size 46 and features “Sea Dogs” in navy blue and white tackle twill. Pedroia’s number “7” is sewn on in Red Sox font in navy blue and white tackle twill on the back of the jersey. The left sleeve has a white “W” Wilson logo patch sewn on. The jersey shows light to moderate game use and comes with a LOA from Portland Sea Dogs attesting to the game use of this jersey by Pedroia.

     Also included in this lot is a navy blue Portland Sea Dogs wool New Era 59Fifty cap that was also worn by Pedroia during his 2005 stay in Portland. The Sea Dogs logo is embroidered in red, navy blue, silver and gold on the front of the cap and the Minor League logo patch is sewn on the back shell. The New Era logo is embroidered in white on the left side and this cap shows moderate use. The number “7” is handwritten in black marker on the gray underside brim and Pedroia signed his name on the outer brim in silver marker and inscribed “2005 GAME USED”. Pedroia’s signature comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (B53002). Both the jersey and hat come with individual LOAs from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
