Tom Brady and the Patriots had other plans, hoping to win their third Super Bowl victory in four years. The two teams would meet in Super Bowl XXXIX played on February 6, 2005, at Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The two titans of the NFL would battle during the close game to a 14-14 tie by the end of the third quarter. The Patriots scored a touchdown on a 2-yard run by Corey Dillion, and a 22-yard field goal by Adam Vinatieri putting the Patriots up by 10 points. McNabb would connect with wide receiver Greg Lewis on a touchdown pass with 1:48 left, but the comeback was short-lived, and the Patriots won their third Super Bowl in four years, 24-21. New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch was named Super Bowl MVP for his 133 receiving yards and his record-tying 11 receptions.
